Gennaro ContaldoBorn in Minori on the Amalfi Coast, Gennaro Contaldo is  one of the most reputable chefs in London and is widely referred to as the man who showed Jamie Oliver all he understands about Italian food preparation. Today, Gennaro is still really closely associated with Jamie’s tasks, and is in charge of producing the menus and educating brand-new chefs for Jamie’s Italian chain.

Gennaro’s quintessentially Italian spirit and favorable nature has made him a TELEVISION favorite. He routinely appears on Saturday Cooking and other programs and more recently his own TV collection, 2 Greedy Italians on BBC2.

Gennaro has worked in a few of London’s most popular bistros, such as Antonio Carluccio’s ‘Neal Street Dining establishment’. In 1999 he opened his own dining establishment ‘passione’ in Charlotte Road, London, which was granted Best Italian restaurant in 2005. Gennaro is presently involved in the Jamie Oliver restaurant chain, Jamie’s Italian, where he produces the recipes and trains brand-new chefs nationwide.

His first cookbook, Passione, published by Headline in 2003 won Finest Italian Cook Book 2003′, at the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards.  Also published by Heading are Gennaro’s Italian Year, Gennaro’s Home Food preparation and Gennaro’s Easy Italian.

Following the success of 2 Greedy Italians, a second serie will start on 19th April on BBC2. An accompanying book, released by Quadrille, will also be offered.

His seventh culinary book, Gennaro and Family, was released by Anova in September 2012.
